Insane traffic? Check.

And yet, I still need to get to work. Yes, it is only 22 degrees, and I know people who function and manage to get to work in colder merde than this every day. But they do it every day. Weather like this frelling paralyzes Dallas.

Thankfully, when I got up at 5, I immediately called and woke up management and told them that I would most likely be late.

And no, I have no intention of playing “bumper cars across Dallas”. I’m hoofing it to the Mockingbird Station and making my way from there.

Well, I got up early this morning to get ready and make allowances for Dallas freaking out on the weather.

I got to the train station early, and was about to get on the train when I realized that I had left my rail pass at home. And not only had I been stupid enough to leave the pass, but I had left behind my wallet. So I Gould not even purchase a day pass.

So I called my boss and told him I was an idiot, and that I would be late

And now here I am, leaving downtown an hour late because I was not thinking clearly.

I need a keeper.

So, it actually waits to start raining after I have walked to the bus stop and am talking on the phone to my customer.

One thing I am proud of though, I’m a hoopy frood who always knows where his towel is.

While working on a customer’s server and being annoyed by co-workers who can’t think for themselves, I found out an interesting revelation.

Looks like Ted Haggard had his hand in the cookie jar, again.

But he is not really gay, he has been given the tools to help to embrace his heterosexual side – whatever that means.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that Haggard described his sexuality as complex and complicated, if so, that was an understatement on the same order of some of the statements made by Deanna Troi

Boyd said an “overwhelming pool of evidence” pointed to an “inappropriate, consensual sexual relationship” that “went on for a long period of time … it wasn’t a one-time act.” Boyd said the man was in his early 20s at the time. He said he was certain the man was of legal age when it began.

Well, at least he was of age.

Anticipating criticism of the settlement with the former church volunteer, Boyd said Friday that it was in the best interests of all involved. He would not name the volunteer or the settlement amount.

“It wasn’t at all a settlement to make him be quiet or not tell his story,” Boyd said. “Our desire was to help him. Here was a young man who wanted to get on with his life. We considered it more compassionate assistance — certainly not hush money. I know what’s what everyone will want to say because that’s the most salacious thing to say, but that’s not at all what it was.”

“No hush money” – Riiiiiight. And I have just been nominated to take over as Secretary of State from Hillary Clinton. Oh, and Laura Bush is leaving W to marry me.

*cough*

Strong, Silent Types

The red-hot new stars of lesbian romance novels: Secret Service agents.

Though as I read this I have to wonder if this is where the Anita Blake series is heading in some ways:

The books are quite explicit; and since Radclyffe introduces more couples as the series progresses, toward the end, there’s far more sex than intrigue, which probably accounts for much of their popularity. But there’s also a more high-minded appeal, something aspirational about the archetype of the honorable agent. Everyone admires a civil servant who will take a bullet in the line of duty, but one section of the population may feel the attraction more strongly than others, because the traits that make a good Secret Service agent are especially valuable in a lesbian.

It is no great secret that I loved the early Anita Blake books because of how the main character is written, I love strong women who are confident and a bit on the snarky side. I don’t even mind a bit of pr0n with my plot, but when the pr0n takes over and kicks the plot to the curb, that is where I end up having to draw the line.
